Debbie Does Austin
As many of you already know, we had the pleasure of hosting our first guest, Eric's mom, Debbie...(hence the title of the blog) at our place in Austin. She flew in on Thursday and stayed for 5 magical nights. In all seriousness though, we really enjoyed her stay. It was nice to see a familiar face and it helped a lot with my homesickness while she was here. I think that the highlight of her visit was our segway tour through the city on Sunday morning. It was a blast and Eric and I were both pleasantly surprised with how quickly Debbie picked it up. In fact, I was the only one who crashed the Segway...thankfully it was in the parking lot practice lot before we had to maneuver around pedestrians, curbs, potholes, and traffic. I simply had a brain fart. The handles don't turn like bicycles do...and I was going quite quickly when I noticed a curb approaching and tried to turn the handle bars to the left to avoid it instead of twisting the handle to make the turn. I slammed into the curb, jumped off the platform and kept the Segway upright in the process. It was a little embarrasing but the tour guide complimented me on my dismount. At least I was athletic enough not to cause any damage to the Segway or myself in the process; especially since they make you sign a waver that states you're responsible to any damage done during the tour...they cost about $5,000 each. It was a little awkward at first, but after about 15 minutes we all felt comfortable. The picture that you see below was taken in front of the state capitol building...it's made of pink granite which happens to be radioactive...interresting.

We also stopped by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. That's the location of the pictures posted on this blog. We were pretty disappointed by the lack of flowers but I managed to shoot a few nice shots that I hope you enjoy.

We recently bought a new Imac computer. We had a fun time creating the kooky pics of the three of us in one of the photobooth programs.
