Extra, Extra...Read all about it!
As most of you know, I've been job-hunting over the last several months with very few leads. About a week before we moved, I got a call back from an out-patient clinic requesting to set up a meeting. Notice how I say meeting, not interview. It turns out that they didn't have an immediate opening and were pretty vague about the opportunity that they may or may not be anticipating. They liked my resume butI think that they really liked the fact that I'm PET certified! So we scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, June 19th.
In the interim, I had another interview with a major network of hospitals that had a PRN position available (that means "per requested need"). Not my ideal job, but I thought it would have potential since it could hold us over until the opening of two new hospitals in their network, in early 2008. The interview went well and they graciously gave me a week to stew it over since it wasn't exactly what I had hoped for.
On Tuesday, the "quasi interview" with the out-pt facility went extremely well and I loved the idea of out-pt. In addition, they offered great perks (NO CALL!!!!, great pay, potential for quarterly bonuses, great time off, Birthday off, jeans on Friday and more!) But, did I mention that they didn't have a job opening. It was like dangling a carrot in front of my nose.
On Wednesday, I called the large, hospital network and intended to accept the PRN position until something full-time would open up. The contact person was out of her office so that never transpired. However, about an hour later, I got a call from the out-pt clinic that I had "met" with the day before. They had great news. It turns out that the interview went so well that they convinced the Director of Radiology to open up a new position!
Now I'm starting to believe my Dad when he says "I never worry about Erica...She could fall from a 10 story building and still land on her feet." I hope that our good luck continues. I think this negates our stint of bad luck with the fender bender. Although I was hoping for some serious pool time, I begin this Monday. Oh well...I'll have to catch up on my tan on the weekends.
Well I just wanted to share some good news with y'all. I hope that my Grandma can start sleeping through the night again!
