Just some new pics

My parents made their 1st trip down to Austin last week. From a relaxing stroll down the Pedernales river to bat watching at the Congress Street Bridge, we had a a nice time showing them around the city and hill country. The anticipated highlight of the trip, a steam-train ride into Burnet, turned out to be a huge downer. I was told that Burnet was a quaint town in the hill country and I guess that I pictured something to the likes of Smicksburg. Besides the let down after a 2 hour train ride into a town littered with closed store fronts, we soon realized that we were a captive audience forced to listen to a 70 something year old short-tempered train attendant's sob story of how he got interested in trains during the train ride back. I was literally clinically depressed for 24 hours after returning to Austin. It sounded like a great idea at the time.

Forgive me for the poor resolution in the images below. Most were taken with my crappy point-and-shoot digital Nikon.

Pedernales Falls

Publish Post
I recently took this photo when Eric and I went hiking a month or two ago. I just stumbled upon it when uploading pics from my sister's visit. The colors are pretty cool. Copy and paste the link below for youtube videos about the area. Pretty boring but if you have a few minutes, check them out. You'd be surprised what landscape Austin, TX has to offer.
